My wife and I were walking down Embassy Row the other day and had an opportunity to check out the various embassies. It was really interesting to see the varying designs throughout. We found the Finnish and Brazilian embassies to be the most unique overall.

The Washington Redskins held off the St. Louis Rams this past Sunday to win 17-10 after dominating most of the game.

Not sure how I am feeling about Rex right now but it’s always good to win.

Stereotypes in DC

Visited Shake Shack DC, 1216 18th Street NW, today in Dupont Circle. I enjoyed one of their Shackburgers a couple of months ago while I was on vacation in NYC. In my opinion Shake Shack crushes Five Guys and I’m happy to have them around this area. But don’t take my word for it. You can find some helpful reviews on Yelp if you click here.

D.C. Cheap Eats Visit #3 - Z-Burger

On my way to school today I stopped by the Z-Burger in Tenleytown for a quick lunch. I had a meal there once like a year ago and wasn’t that impressed the first time around. Alot of people in this area, however, really like this place and I figured it would be a good place to try again.

I ordered a single bacon cheeseburger with tomatoes and guacamole on top. Again, I failed to see what everyone raves about. The burger tasted good but I’m not really a fan of the slim chargrilled-type patties they use there.  I prefer a thicker, juicier patty and the choice to have it cooked to my liking - the bloodier the better, ha. See BGR. I was also disappointed with the guacamole I paid an extra 75 cents for. They only added a less than impressive spread of it on the burger. The only thing I really liked was the bacon which was crispy and bountiful and kind of made up for the pedestrian burger it was topped on. Finally, the price for my burger and drink was $10 and I didn’t even order fries or the normal double patty burger! Needless to say I don’t plan on returning anytime soon unless someone else is paying.

D.C. Cheap Eats Visit #2 - Yellow Vendor Food Truck

Yesterday I made my way down to Metro Center to try the Yellow Vendor Food Truck.  The “Yellow Vendor serves Bulgogi, a Korean dish that usually consists of marinated barbecued beef.  Yellow Vendor mostly serves in the 12th & F St NW, Washington, DC area.  Sometimes, the truck will be parked and appear to be closed, but a knock on the door is encouraged to receive service.” Via Food Truck Fiesta.

I ordered the Spicy Bulgogi and really enjoyed the whole meal except for the too-small salad which was topped with a very tasty dressing.  The highlight may have been the kimchi which complimented the rest of the dish perfectly.  Overall it was a great meal but I would have liked to have more salad and kimchi.  The price, however, was only $7 so I’m not going to complain too much.
